Servier Vascular Research Award OutlineThe Servier Vascular Research Award is a peer reviewed independent research competition sponsored by an unrestricted educational grant by Servier Canada Inc. The purpose of the award is to support investigator-initiated research within Canada in the general area of vascular disease. The winning research project will be awarded a one off grant to enable the completion of the research project in Canada. Further details on the criteria and scope of the award are available below and proposals can be submitted at the bottom of this page. The competition ends on May 30th, 2009 and the winning recipient will be announced at the Canadian Cardiology Congress in Edmonton in October 2009. Eligibility Criteria In order to be eligible to apply for any award described hereafter, you must meet the following criteria: • You are a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant with permanent Canadian residence; • You must be a qualified medical practitioner; • In your first three years of your first Canadian faculty appointment; • You must demonstrate the clinical relevance of the proposed research project; • The proposed research project must be completed in Canada; • At the discretion of the investigator and the investigator’s institution, the funds may be applied as a salary award for the investigator, to ensure adequate time protected for the conduct of the research and/or to support the investigator’s operating costs. Award A one-off unrestricted educational grant of $70,000. The winning research project will be announced and presented at the 2009 Canadian Cardiology congress in Edmonton in October 2009. Accountability The recipient will be required to provide a one page progress report each 6 months for the duration of the project along with a final report upon completion. The application must not exceed 4 pages in length (excluding proof of eligibility document) and only complete applications will be reviewed and receive a response.
